Fully commit and the rest will follow.
“You need to make a commitment, and once you make it, then life will give you some answers.”
Business can look and feel complicated at times. Layers upon layers of systems, technology, and processes. Every industry has hundreds of experts, and they love to use complicated speech in their writings and keynotes that add to the confusion. To make matters worse, we are inundated on social media with the get rich quick stories from the overnight successes.
With all that said, successful business isn’t complicated. It’s actually really simple; and it’s all built on the foundation of a commitment.
From the outside it looks complicated. It looks complicated, because what we see is the end result of years of testing, failures, adaptation, growth, and grit. We see the outcome from years of building on an initial commitment.
Starbucks started with one small shop in Seattle that didn’t even serve coffee. They made a commitment to bring the, “Warmth and artistry,” of Italy’s coffee culture to America in 1987 and built an empire one store at a time.
Nike started as a track and field shoe up against giant competitors. They made an unwavering commitment to the athlete and based all decisions off of that commitment to become what they are today.
Patagonia started in 1965 as Choinard Equipment making hardware for rock climbers. They made a commitment to the climber, ensuring every piece of equipment they produced was stronger, lighter, and better than what currently existed. It took almost a decade for them to start manufacturing apparel for climbers. Same commitment, different approach.
“Stay committed in your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.”
These resources are more proof that no business or entrepreneur has anything figured out completely when they take their first steps, other than one thing: their commitment.
